ABOUT ME
So, you’ve probably heard about people traveling the world, staying in 5-star resorts and flying business class… all for next to nothing, thanks to a massive stash of points and miles. And if you’re like I was, you might think they must have something special: maybe they have high-powered jobs with loads of business travel, or credit cards maxed out with expenses racking up miles while they sleep.
Well, I’m here to tell you: That’s not the case.
You don’t need a fancy job, a high budget, or unlimited travel to make points and miles work for you. What you do need is a solid strategy and a little know-how.
Here’s what it takes to succeed in the points and miles game…
Most of the best travel rewards credit cards require a solid credit score to qualify—usually 700 or above. Closer to 800 is even better.
If you’re not quite there yet, don’t worry. This isn’t a race. Spend some time building your credit and come back to this when you’re ready. I’ll be here cheering you on when that day comes.
This hobby is about saving money—not spending wildly just to earn rewards.
If you already track your budget, live within your means, and don’t rely on credit cards to fund your lifestyle, then you’re in great shape. You’ll be able to make the points work for you without the temptation to overspend.
This is the golden rule.
Carrying a balance and paying interest cancels out the value of the rewards you’re earning. So if you’re not already paying off your credit card in full each month, start there. Once that’s a habit, you’ll be ready to take full advantage of the points game—without it costing you.
Yes, there are a few moving parts: welcome offer deadlines, annual fees, card benefits, points balances. But guess what? You don’t have to track it all in your brain.
I use a free tool called Travel Freely to manage all of it. It doesn’t require sensitive info like bank logins and helps me stay on top of deadlines, bonus trackers, and which cards I’ve opened. It’s like having a little personal assistant for your points strategy.
You don’t need to be a finance expert to succeed here—but you do need to be curious. That’s it.
If you’re willing to do a little research, follow a step-by-step plan, and ask questions along the way, you’ll be amazed how quickly you catch on. And hey—you’ve got me in your corner now. Between free resources and personalized guidance (just DM me anytime!), you won’t be figuring this out alone.
Bonus? Being a big dreamer helps. Because once you understand how travel rewards work, the whole world opens up to you.
If you’re someone who:
Then YES. This is absolutely for you.
And if you’re thinking, “Well, I’m not sure I check all the boxes yet…”, that’s okay too. You’re here. You’re learning. You’re dreaming. And that counts!!
Because honestly? If I can figure this out, you can too. Every vacation dream you’ve ever had is possible and I’d love to help you make it happen.
